Steven's look a like companion

Thursday, January 12, 2012

Sorry it has been so long since I have put anything on Steven’s blog.  Things have been a bit crazy around here.  Anyway, Steven is doing really well.  He is in Garma, Brazil right now and enjoying it there very much.  His last companion he is from Brazil and has been helping Steven with perfecting the Portuguese language.  And in turn Steven has been teaching him some English.  He sent us some pictures of his companion eating at Burger King and we had to take a double take on his companion because he looks just like Steven.  They could be twins.
Steven said that that was the best burger ever.  Although, it had been 9 month since he has eaten at Burger King.  We sent him a package for Christmas and we were thankful that he got it before Christmas.  We were able to Skype with him on Christmas Day and that was the
Best Christmas present ever.  It was wonderful to be able to see him and talk to him
At the same time.  It was funny to hear him start talking English to us and then mid-sentence start talking in Portuguese.  I am adding some really cool pictures that he sent us when
He and his companion had some free time and went a little site seeing. Also, a picture of his Christmas tree which was made out of magazine's.  He is still in Garma with a new companion and he is a senior companion now and loving it very much.

Doing great!

Steven is still doing GREAT! He shares his apartment with the district leaders.  They've been having a hard time getting into peoples homes to share the message, so they decided to use Steven as an excuse.  When they talk to someone they ask them if they could come in and share a message so Steven can practice his Portaguesse.
He has been trying some different food.  Some he likes and others he does not.  He said that he has had to fight the gag reflex with some corn mush. He was able to eat it,  but it was difficult. He does like this Pastels food that is filled with ham, cheese, and beef.  He is enjoying the weather, the people, his companions, and the nice pictures painted on the walls.
The picture I posted of his shower is very interesting. If you look real close, you can see some wires coming out from the wall into the shower head.  This is so they can have a nice hot shower.  Kind of scary if you ask me.  It was awesome being able to talk to him on Mother's Day.  I sure do miss his voice.  Seven more months till we get to talk to him again.
Steven is counting down the months now till he is able to return home.  He has 21 more months. I suppose I will be counting down along with him.

Update

Steven is doing GREAT!  He has had 3 baptisms already and they are planning on having more.  His mission is going to try and baptize 50 more people by May 15th.  We wish them all good luck.  He loves strawberries and is very excited for the strawberry season coming up soon.  We are excited to be able to hear from him this Mother's Day.  He has his coming home date already; which is February 19, 2013. Let the count down begin.
I have posted more pictures.

Brasilia! Finally!

Steven is finally in Brasilia.  His p-days are on Tuesdays.  Please continue to e-mail him.  Sorry if he hasn't responded to anybodies e-mails at this point. He has been limited to a certain amount of time at the MTC.  I am hoping he won't have that limited time while out in the field so he will be able to write to all that have been writing him.  Keep in mind too that he is not a big writer.  I have a hard time getting him to write me more than one sentence.  Steven says that he can now teach many things in Portuguese and is loving it.  He doesn't quite got the understanding of the Brazilians down when they speak because of their accent and some of them speak fast, but he is getting it and hanging in there.  He says his companion is awesome and he has sent us some pictures.  I hope you enjoy them.
